The School of Computer Information Engineering at Changzhou Institute of Technology was established in October 2003, originating from the Computer Application major offered in 1983. In 2000, the undergraduate major of Computer Science and Technology was established. In 2003, the major of Communication Engineering was established. In 2008, the major of Software Engineering was established. In 2012, the major of Internet of Things Engineering was established, and in 2020, the major of Artificial Intelligence was established. Approved as a master’s degree program in Electronic Information in 2024, and enrolled as a graduate student in Electronic Information (Artificial Intelligence direction) in 2025.

The college has six professional departments including the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the Department of Software Engineering, the Department of Communication Engineering, the Department of Internet of Things Engineering, the Department of Artificial Intelligence, and the Department of Computer Public Basic Education, as well as a computer center laboratory. There are currently 82 faculty members, including 8 with senior professional titles and 21 with associate professional titles; 45 doctors and 33 masters. There are 4 third level training objects of Jiangsu Province’s “333” project, 2 academic leaders of Jiangsu Province’s “Green and Blue Project” in universities, 6 outstanding young backbone teachers of Jiangsu Province’s “Green and Blue Project” in universities, 6 dual innovation PhDs in Jiangsu Province, and 1 military civilian integration expert in Jiangsu Province.

The college has five undergraduate majors: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Communication Engineering, Internet of Things Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence. The Software Engineering major has been certified by the Ministry of Education as an engineering education major. At present, there are 2 pilot majors of the Ministry of Education’s “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program” (Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering), 1 national first-class undergraduate major construction point (Computer Science and Technology), 2 pilot majors of Jiangsu Province’s “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program” (Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering), 1 key major of Jiangsu Province’s “Twelfth Five Year Plan” (Software Engineering), 1 professional construction point of Jiangsu Province’s Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program 2.0 (Software Engineering), 1 brand professional construction point of Jiangsu Province’s industry education integration (Computer Science and Technology), 3 first-class undergraduate majors of Jiangsu Province (Software Engineering, Internet of Things Engineering, Communication Engineering), and the first batch of high-level demonstration projects for Sino foreign cooperative education in Jiangsu Province.
